2. Are You a Competent Trainer? What Is Competency?
Many of us do not know how competent we really are as training professionals. All we normally get are level one assessments. A competency has three components: knowledge, attitude, and skills.

3. McLagan Study of Successful Trainers
Experts identified 35 HRD competencies in four basic areas: technical, business, interpersonal, and intellectual.

4. Personal Values
Some additional ingredients I personally believe are necessary for the development of a competent and well-seasoned trainer. These four ingredients come under the heading of Personal Values.

5. Matrix Roles & Competencies for HRD Success
The 35 HRD competencies identified in the study are listed and described.
