Determine Leadership Training Requirements
This phase is where the developmental plans of all
participants are reviewed to determine the best leadership
training delivery methods. Training curriculum is determined
and a schedule is posted for courses. Also the appropriate
books, videos, and Internet training is identified and
validated. There should also be a tracking system to follow
the progress in attaining the goals of individual and
corporate goals. It is very advantageous to establish an
online or in-house resource library so each employee and
executive can easily obtain the appropriate training material.
Provide Leadership Development Training
Based upon the needs of the corporate organization,
training courses would be conducted, by subject matter
experts, on all appropriate competencies. Each course would be
about one-half day and the learning objectives would dovetail
with the skills sets of each competency. The courses would be
interactive allowing for every person to actively participate
in discussions and provide for affirmative group dynamics. At
the end of each session an action plan would be required that
would detail the specific actions that would be taken to fully
implement what they have just learned. These actions plans
would be forwarded to both human resources and the
participant’s immediate supervisor.
This training should include multiple venues to meet the
corporate and individual leadership requirements for all
participants. This should include E-learning, books, videos,
additional assessments, and coaching handouts. For each
executive and senior staff member, it might also be
recommended that they attend offsite training where they could
work with other senior individuals on case studies that would
be used to increase their business knowledge, awareness, and
acumen.
This phase will be more fully developed after the specific
training requirements were identified and agreed upon by all
involved.
Post Assessments
From six to twelve months after training and development
has been completed it is recommended that a post assessment be
conducted to ascertain behavioral and attitudinal changes.
Using the same assessment methodology and comparing the
results would establish an accurate gap analysis and any
observed improvements in behavior and actions.
Another post assessment is the reviewing the original
agreed upon baseline measurements and determining the overall
improvement to the organization and any improved productivity
or efficiencies by job family.
